Brief Biography

Hi, I am Jonathan. I had over ten years of real estate experience before I turned 30.  Be it through academics, real estate brokerage, or residential construction I have seen my fair share.  However, I will be the first to tell you that I have recently discovered that I know very little about the industry as a whole.  However, I’ve become a true student of the profession.  In addition to my rigorous coursework, I enjoy seeking out any people, books, blogs, or articles that can further my knowledge of the industry.

Currently I own and operate Benchmark Homes, LLC and McPhail Properties, LLC.  I opened the doors to Benchmark in 2006 (I was 25 at the time) shortly after graduating from MSU.  Benchmark has focused on building custom homes in the Jackson Mississippi market.  McPhail Properties has been open for three years now and is used to operate and manage residential rental property.

I ultimately aspire to owning and operating a real estate development/ investment/ management firm that is focused on sustainable projects that considers deeply how people interact with their built environment.

Developing of a Developer is my personal blog.  The views and opinions are my own and do not necessarily represent that of my community, clients, Benchmark Homes, McPhail Properties, and/or Auburn University.  Please feel free to contact me about any content shared on this blog.
